About Braces

In our practice, we use various types of braces (brackets). Dr. Nassiri prefers self-ligating brackets because of their better oral hygiene maintenance and ease of use. He particularly feels they are the best suited orthodontic brackets for treating adult patients. Self-ligating brackets, invented in the 1930’s, allow for the application of continuous light forces to move teeth in the most biologically favorable manner. The lessened pressure reduces sensitivity and the constant force may shorten overall treatment time.

We also offer clear “translucent” braces (brackets). Because they look clear on the teeth, many adults prefer them.

Straighter Teeth Can Lead To...

Healthier Gums
Properly aligned teeth can help gums “fit tighter around them.” which may lead to better periodontal health. Patients can brush and floss normally, which can help prevent tooth decay and periodontal disease.

Easier Cleanings
With maintenance of good oral hygiene, the chances of having plaque retention, tooth decay and periodontal disease can be reduced.

Decreased Risk of Trauma and Abnormal Wear
Properly aligned teeth can be less stressful on the supporting bone and jaw joints. Additionally, improperly positioned teeth can be at risk of increased wear and chipping.
